Create Your Campaigns
When creating your campaigns first you need to segment your list. To keep it simple, let’s start by saying your current list may consist of current customers and prospects and you can start here by segmenting your list.
You may want to create a campaign for your current customers that we call a “Stay in Touch” campaign. This is a campaign that keeps your important clients informed of what you and your company are doing. Part of a stay in touch campaign may be to introduce a new product or service offering. It may be a campaign that invites them to an educational webinar you might be having or it may even be a yearly campaign that touches them on special occasions. It can consist of one step using one method of delivery or multi steps using several mediums such as email, voice broadcast, snail mail, a task to initiate a live phone call.
A prospect follow up campaign could look something like this:
- After the prospect opts in for your information they receive a thank you.
- Whatever you promised is then delivered in whatever medium you promised (ie, a free special report by email) or instant access.
- Two days later a task to one of your sales/service reps to follow up to ensure they got the information and ask questions to ensure they understand the information you are conveying.
- If this free report consisted of a time limited offer, you could follow up with another email 5 days after receipt of the first report and send off the report again or you could send them a series of tips.
The important thing is to follow up. If it is an existing customer, you want to preserve the relationship and ensure that they are coming back to you when it’s time to buy again. Keep top of mind. If it’s a prospect, don’t lose the lead that cost you money to attract, all because you didn’t follow up. The fortune is in the follow up.
Knowing your audience is the key in how often you contact them and what method you use. For example if you have an audience that is older you may want to be sending mail rather than email or text messages. A more tech savvy audience campaign may consist of email, text messages etc.
