Get a Coach
Given that we are talking about the Olympics this month and the correlation to business, I thought it best to point out that no matter how successful athletes are they all have coaches or trainers. Having a business or personal coach or trainer has many more benefits than the obvious transfer of knowledge. Coaches are being employed more and more in small business and prove to be beneficial on many levels. I find that in speaking with customers and prospects that are starting their own business, many just don’t know where to start and feel alone in the process.
No matter how much you know about your own niche or business there is always something to learn. Perhaps a coach in your own niche can add to your knowledge base, and put a different spin on things. Sometimes the obvious is right under our nose and we cannot see it because we are too close to the situation. This is where a coach can be most helpful. Who better to learn from than someone who has been through the process and has been successful?
None of us like to believe we have weaknesses and some of us think we have nothing but weakness. A coach can be a mentor, help to identify weak areas in our business and in our personality traits and help to build self esteem and confidence.
During these economic times, many of us are starting businesses from scratch and do not have the funds available to hire a lot of employees. In these situations we may choose to outsource some of the services we need such as accounting, marketing etc. Some of us try to take it all on. Unfortunately, wearing many hats (especially if you have come from a large company and are used to doing one task) can be very difficult. Often the things that get left behind and forgotten are sales and marketing. Your company cannot survive without sales and customers and sales cannot be achieved without effective marketing.
We tend to get bombarded with information overload which can be another problem in moving forward. Confusion often makes people freeze. If they don’t understand or are overwhelmed, they make the fatal mistake of sitting on it and doing nothing. A marketing coach or mentor can help you sort out all of the information, prioritize and give focused attention to the tasks that need to be handled to get your marketing automated and bring prospects and sales to your business.
When working alone we tend to get into analysis, paralysis, especially if we don’t have a partner to bounce ideas off of. Another opinion is sometimes all that is needed to make the next leap forward. A coach can give you this. A coach can assist you in ensuring that your are making sound decisions and that you are paying attention to not only growing your business but that your existing clients are nurtured and growing right alongside with you.
Some people may be well on their way to getting things moving in the right direction, have some extra help and only need a bit of direction. Others need more help. Take a serious look at hiring a coach, even if for a short time to make an assessment of where you’re at and where you can use some help. This is a great time of year with less than 6 months to go. It may make the difference of meeting your yearly goals or not. You may find that with a coach to assist, you will have a greater chance of achieving your goals more quickly.
